Hello everyone! I am Dr. Jocelyn McDonald but you can call me Dr. Mac. I am so excited to introduce my new education blog, Tech It Up a Notch with Dr. Mac, focused on supporting 21st century educational practices by leveraging the use of technology to enhance instruction. In this blog I plan to share a wealth of knowledge I have gained as a teacher, curriculum writer, instructional coach and instructional technologist. Not only will I share current and emerging technology tools and resources to support classroom instruction, I will also share instructional best practices in which technology can “Tech Your Pedagogy Up a Notch.” This may include but is not limited to:
- Instructional Models
- Student Engagement
- Checking for Understanding
- Differentiated Instruction
- Technology Integration Frameworks
- Theoretical and Conceptual Models
- Educational Research
- and so much more!
Of course, I could go on and on about the wealth of knowledge I can share. However, I consider myself a continuous learner so there will also be moments in which I share my journey in new learning or professional developments I’ve presented and attended.
So, why blog now?
I am an advocate for social change in education and I am looking to make a genuine impact in the educational arena that affects student learning. I am passionate about developing and supporting academic experiences to transform pedagogical practices to provide students with a quality education. For a long time, I have wanted to be a part of something greater than myself and have felt confined between the political nature of administrative stakeholders in schools and districts. Thanks to the benefits of social media, those walls of confinement are released and here I can share, learn, and network with other educators around the globe to support and be a part of positive social change in our society.
I look forward to this venture and hope that I can make an impact on teachers’ instructional practices and student learning.
